COON, SPELMAN

Linda K. Sonnenberg Tue Dec 28 1999 2:40 pm
I'm looking for Josephine COON, daughter of Adam COON, her mother possibly a SPELMAN. Family records say she was born prior to Wisconsin becoming a state... around 1828 in West Division(?), Grant County, Wisconsin. I realize there probably won't be any birth records that early, but I'm not even sure where to start looking. Was Grant County considered a part of Iowa in 1828? Further, I can't find any reference to a West Division in the City/Township listings. Linda K. Sonnenberg. Email address: [email protected]

I have come across a bundle of letters and deeds going back to 1834. The deeds are for land purchased in Grant County, Wisconsin in the 1850s by Dr. J. H. CLARK, a dentist. There are letters to and from his son T.W. CLARK, who was living in Ohio and many letters to and from Abigail WIGLEY in Whitestone, Oneida, New York (mostly to her brother). Abigail, during the period of these letters, married Dr. CLARK and moved to his home in Mt. Hope, Grant County, Wisconsin. Many other family members are mentioned. Dr. Clark was a relative of a friend of my family who is now deceased with no family that I know of. We all lived and live in Yakima, Washington.

Hello: I am researching the family of Gilbert Carley. Here is what I have: Gilbert was born in NY. in 1812. He may have lived for awhile in Illinois. He married Julia Peck (b. Ohio 1819)on 6/11/1846 in Platteville, Grant County, Wis. They had the following children:Mary D b. 1839, Martha T b. 1847, Nancy b. 1848, Loren b. March 1862-his twin Loreta, Malissa, Eliza, and possibly Jonathan.

I want to know who the parents of Gilbert and Julia are. I also want to know if there was a son, Jonathan. I would also like to know the birthdates of Gilbert's and Julia's children.

Thank you,
Judith Vaughn
