ATKINSON, DANIEL, JAMISON, MAYNE

LuAnn Elsinger Sat Nov 28 18:33:25 1998

I am looking for information on the ATKINSON family of Grant Co. My great-great grandmother Matilda JAMISON was married to William ATKINSON on 23 Jan 1865 (Index to WI Marriages) in Grant Co. This was the 2nd marriage for both of them. According to census records and "Index to WI Marriages" William was first married to Mary Ann DANIEL on 9 Dec 1845, and Matilda was married to Henry MAYNE in 1850. William's parents are listed as George and Susan ATKINSON. Matilda's obituary (Grant Co. Herald Newspaper, 21 Jul 1909) states that William died Nov 1888. I have not been able to find his death record. My notes indicate he may have died in another state, possibly Montana, however I can't remember how I came to that conclusion. There are other ATKINSON's from Grant Co. at this time including another William but he would have been quite a bit younger. My William is listed in the Land Grants from 1844-1853, and in the census as late as 1870. If anyone knows what became of him or who his parents where I would appreciate hearing from you.

Am searching for information on my g-grandfather Rev. Isaac J. WRIGHT (b. 12/22/1819 IN, d. 6/3/1888 WI) and his wife Martha Ann (MILLER) WRIGHT (b. 4/4/1825 KY, d. 11/18/1905 WI). They lived in Muscoda, Grant County, WI from 1879 till they passed away. Before moving to Muscoda they lived in Richwood Twp., Richwood Co., WI from 1854 to 1876. My grandfather, Dr. John Calvin Wright lived for a short time in Muscoda with his parents from about 1879 to 1883, while attending Rush Medical School in Chicago. He later practiced medicine in Excelsior, WI. befor moving to Gays Mill and then Antigo, WI. Rev. WRIGHT had a dauaghter (or step-daughter?) Martha (b. 1856 WI, probably across the river in Port Andrew), whom married John MCVAY (b. 1854 OH). I know Martha MCVAY was living in Muscoda as late as May 13, 1940. John and Martha had following children, Isaac MCVAY (b. 1876), Isimy MCVAY (b. 1878) and Alva MCVAY (b. Feb. 1880). The children were born in Richland County, WI. DOYLE, SHERIDAN

Nora Doyle Stafford Sat Nov 7 14:09:24 1998

I am digging for clues to see if there was a family by the name of SHERIDAN that lived in the Hazel Green area. My great grandmother was Imelda Sheridan, b. Feb. 1859. She married my Great Grandfather, Garrett DOYLE also of Hazel Green in 1885 or 1886. They were members of the catholic church in Sinsinawa. I suspect that Imelda's family may have lived in the Hazel Green area because Garret had a sister named Sarah that was married to a William SHERIDAN. My records show that Imelda had a brother named William and another named James or Jim. I have no other information and I have not found their family on the census of Grand County yet. I know that many of the DOYLE family lived either in Hazel Green or Cuba City.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!
I can be reached at: [email protected]
I have also posted a query on the DOYLE family of Grant County.

BLOHM, DOESCHER, KLEINHAMMER, MEYER, WREDE

John D. Dufour Wed Nov 4 19:04:17 1998

Henry KLEINHAMMER, b.1861 d. 1949 was married to Mathilda Augusta WREDE b. 1860 d. 1922. Henry's name appears on the drawing for the map of Calvary Cemetary in Platteville, WI. as the "engineer." I believe he was the city engineer for Platteville for a few years. He was a long time resident of Platteville and for many years had a contracting business out of the local lumber yard. I am researching his side of the family and of his wife's, Mathilda Augusta WREDE . Both are buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville, WI.

The surnames listed in the subject line are related. Henry KLEINHAMMER was my greatgrandfather on my mother's side. Any information on the associated surnames could be helpful.

My name is Molly Madigan, [email protected]. I am researching my husband's family, who lived in WI. There are VOGELSBERGS in Potosi and Lancaster, and I am trying to find a possible connection. BOYLE, HOWE, QUINN

Alan Boyle Wed Oct 10 21:16:05 1998

Am seeking information on Michael BOYLE and Ellen HOWE, who were married at St. Dominic Church, Sinsinawa Mound in Grant County on Aug. 2, 1857. There's a brief notation at the convent house saying they were married with John BOYLE and Margaret QUINN as witnesses, but I would love to find more details as to parentage of either Michael or Ellen, or place of birth (they were both born in County Clare, Ireland). Their first child, also named Michael BOYLE, may have been born in Grant County later in 1857. Would love to have any details about his birth record. Many thanks, Alan Boyle ([email protected])

KOPPEN, LUDIGER, ROEMER, SCHOLL

Jenni and Nick Lenz Fri Oct 2 21:38:15 1998

We are looking for the marriage place of Frank Peter SCHOLL and Kate Mayme KOPPEN. Frank Peter SCHOLL was born in Potosi (British Hollow) to Joseph SCHOLL on 25 February 1875. In Nov of 1904 Frank married Kate Mayme KOPPEN. She was the daughter of Ferdinand KOPPEN and Barbara LUDIGER. Barbara KOPPEN died 24 March 1889, shortly after her daughter Anna was born. Ferdinand KOPPEN and Barbara LUDIGER were married in Cassville however I don't know what church--I do know that they were Catholic). We have been trying to find out where Barbara KOPPEN was buried, along with Ferdinand's parents John and Cecila KOPPEN. I assume it is in or around Cassville. When we were in the Potosi/Tennyson and Cassville area the first part of September, we were unable to locate and of the cemetaries in the Cassville area. We were able to locate the St Andrews (new and old cemetary), In fact we think that we found the grave site of Joseph SCHOLL's father and mother (Peter SCHOLL and Willimina ROEMER. Frank SCHOLL and Mame KOPPEN were my husband's grandparents. Jenni and Nick Lenz [email protected]
