FAUST, FOSTER, FOUST, WAYNE

Arlene Jorgensen Wed Sep 30 13:05:22 1998
I'm interested in any information someone may have on any early FOust/FAust (John Taylor-John Almarion) or WAYNE (Margurette Louisa) or FOSTER (Polly-George) families. I know that they settled in Crawford Co.around 1850's and a few married there. My GGGrandfather and family is buried in the Boydtown Cemetery, Crawford Co. At sometime they moved to Grant County. My Mother (Ellen Faust) was born in Boscobel 8/30/1915. I may want to buy the reprint of C.W. Butterfield's History of Grant Co., but if there is no history of the FOust/FAust or Wayne or Foster families there, it might not be worth it. So if there is anything, anyone can help me with, I would appreciate it.

GARVEY, LYONS, SPICER, VON WILAMOVITZ

Roger Scanland Mon Sep 14 22:56:22 1998
Cornelius GARVEY, said to have been born 16 Feb 1804 in New York, and his wife Saphronia LYONS (1810-1896) were living in Grant County, WI by 6 Aug 1853 when their son Cornelius Albert Garvey was born. They moved to Lincoln, Nebraska probably in the 1870s, to Red Oak, Montgomery Co. Iowa by 1880 and to Pierce Co., Nebraska by 1885, where they died.

A Cornelius and Sophronia GARVEY are listed in the 1850 census of Laona Township in Winnebago Co., ILL in 1850. Their children in that year included two who are known to have moved to Wisconsin: Clarissa, b. abt. 1849 and married Thomas SPICER in Wisconsin on 24 Jan 1867, and Irvin, who was born in 1847, married Jane VON WILAMOVITZ, died in 1914 and is buried in Mifflin, WI leaving children Clarissa, Julia and Ruth. We feel certain that the Cornelius and Sophronia of Illinois are the same as the Cornelius and Saphronia of Grant Co., WI.

Cornelius of Ill. also had children Jonathan, b. abt. 1834, George, b. abt 1837 and Mary A., b. abt. 1843. Seeking any data on the Garveys of Grant County; have info to share on the descendants of Cornelius's son Cornelius Albert GARVEY.

BARTHOLOMEW, KEITH

Judy Olson Sat Sep 5 13:51:27 1998
Hi, I'm looking for information on Willie (Willis or William) BARTHOLOMEW and his wife, Maria Jane (KEITH) BARTHOLOMEW, as well as their son, Andrew J. BARTHOLOMEW.

My gg grandmother Mariah Jane (KEITH) BARTHOLOMEW is buried in Old Rock Church Cemetery at Livingston, Grant Co. Wi. She probably died in the late 1800s. I'm basing that assumption on the fact that she was married in 1850 and her son, my great grandfather Andrew J. BARTHOLOMEW was born about 1854 (possibly in Martinsville or Martintown. I do not find either on a current map). I'm assuming that my gg grandfather Willie (William or Willis) BARTHOLOMEW may also be buried in Livingston.

Is there anyone in that area where I can get a lookup done for their death information and/or, hopefully, obituaries and maybe look for my great grandfather's birth information? If lookups are available, feel free to forward my message to them with a request that they let me know the cost of this work as I am on a limited research budget.

I would also like to find out if there were other children in the family besides Andrew.

Another researcher told me of a "Record of the Bartholomew Family" published in 1885 that exists in a library somewhere in Wisconsin. Would love to locate the book as well. Thanks for any help.

I am wondering if you might know what kind of church records are available in the Beetown area. I am a descendant of Hiram and Dorcas HUDSON who settled in Beetown in 1840. There has been quite a bit of research done on this family but I am trying to find the names of Hiram's parents. I am hoping I might have some success with some church records. Hiram was a member of the M.E. Church of Providence. I know the church is no longer there but I am wondering how I might find out if and where records may be found? I live in Arizona but I plan on taking a trip to Bloomington for Christmas. I would like to get a few things lined up so I can spend some time researching the short time I will be back. Any info/advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Shelly Edwards Olsen email: [email protected]

Gloria Trierweiler Wed Jul 29 18:29:01 1998

On the GREENWOOD side there is James and Harriet, James was a MARSHALL in Cassville, Milton their son and his wife, Mamie SEELEY, (who are my grandmother and grandfather) and James' brother, Roy and his wife Mary GREENWOOD. On the TRIERWEILER side there is Oliver (my grandfather) and Annie, she was an ACKERMAN, mother of Marie and Gerty AKERMAN-KIRSHBAUM. Oliver was married to Barbara DETRICH first and their sons were William, Edward, and Lawrence (born May 2, 1910. My father was Lawrence. He was first married to Luella WILCOMM who died in childbirth. EWER, HIGGINS, WAMSLEY

Sid Ewer Tue Jul 8 17:44:10 1998
I am a descendent of Ruell EWER and Ellen WAMSLEY who married and lived in Cassville, Wisconsin in the 1850s and 1860s. Ruell EWER died in 1863 I think in the Civil War shortly after enlisting, but I also have information that he died in Cassville in 1863. Ellen later (1865) married Sam HIGGINS in Glen Haven and they wound up moving to Nebraska. Ellen Wamsley was the daughter of Charles and Sarah WAMSLEY who immigrated from England with five children. I think Sarah came a couple of years before Charles did. I am looking for additional information on Charles and Sarah, and on Ellen and Ruell. I know nothing of Ruell, except that he supposedly came from Pennsylvania. Ellen's brother, Charles, supposedly worked for Governor Dewey; Charles's wife supposedly also worked with Governor Dewey. Charles was also a Justice of the Peace and on the school board.

I appreciate any information you can furnish me.
