Bruce Droessler Fri Jun 11 13:44:19 1999
Being a real rookie at geneology, I'm trying to research our family tree. Information provided by Gene Droessler, takes me back several generations, but I want to see how far I can go.
My dad - Howard Droessler, 1919, born Grant county
married Katherine Flogel, of Grant county, 1941
His dad - Valentine Droessler, 1885, probably born Grant county
married Maggie ?
His dad - Joe Droessler, 1852, born in Germany
married Caroline Wiederholt (daughter of Joe Wiederholt and Victoria Lange) 1875
His dad - Christopher Droessler,
married Margaret Brandt (I believe 1855) (from family of Adolph & Lewis Brandt)
Margaret Brandt Droessler later married Henry Ludwig who had a son, named Henry.

I know some of these are buried in Kieler and that is about all. I would like to trace the family back to Germany. Any info you could give me would be appreciated.

Hi , I am looking for data on these families, which were in Grant Co.WI in the 1800s to possibly the mid 1940s. My family surname is HARRISON. The Harrison family married into the families of PECK , BLAKE ( of Blake's Prairie,WI ), the BLUNT's, BRICE & PITZER. I have some data on these families , but would like to see if there is more out there. My 4th G-grandmother was Mary BRICE HARRISON and she was buried in Lumpkin Cemetery near Platteville & Bloomington. Her husband was James HARRISON who was b. 5 May,1750 in VA & died in Sullivan,IN circa 1824. I would like to know if there is someone who lives near this cemetery who could possibly find Mary B Harrison's grave & photograph the headstone or at least get the birth & death dates from it and any inscriptions. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

FRAYER, HOWARD, SHAW

Ed Kohinke Thu May 13 09:01:16 1999
Searching for info on James SHAW and wife Margaret, my 2nd great-grandparents. There is a James SHAW who obtained land near Fennimore in 1858 according to WI Land Records, I'm not sure it's the same person. Apparently James came from NY, and Margaret was born in IL.

Also, their daughter--my great-grandmother--Anna Almina SHAW, b. abt. 1863 in WI, married my ggf, Franklin William Howard (aka Frayer), in December 1877 in Fennimore. The certificate listed James and Margaret SHAW as parents of the bride, with Saml.(?) and William SHAW as witnesses.

James SHAW may have served in the Civil War, and may have been living in Boscobel when he died.

I am looking for information on Henry Holzer (b1855 WI) the son of Henry and Catherine Holzer, farmers listed on the 1880 Census under Platteville. Looking for information (i.e., where/when died and where she is buried) about my great grandmother, Anne Klar, born 1863 in Wisconsin. Her father was Chris or Chrisl Klar, a widower on 1880 Wisconsin Census, from Prussia. They were a farm family on the Platteville census. They were probably Catholic as my grandmother Frances, was baptized at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Patteville. Anne was listed on the 1920 Federal Census living on Broadway Street, Platteville with her daughter Irene and son Clem. William appears on the 1850 census for Grant County but died in 1851. We believe he died in Grant County, Wisconsin. I do not know what church he may have attended. William's father served with the New Jersey militia during the early years of the Revolutionary War.

Both PETER and STEPHEN served in the Union Army during the Civil War. The 1890 Nebraska Veterans Index shows that Peter W. Feather enlisted in the Wisconsin infantry and served as a private in Unit K-22.
