NOYES, grocer, was born in Maine May 18, 1855; came to Wisconsin
in 1876, and located at Shiocton, in the grocery business, where he
remained four years; then he came to Florence in 1880, and engaged in
his present business; was married to Miss Clara E. Rynden, of
Stephensville, Wis. They have one child, Arthur H. Noyes. Mr. Noyes is
foreman of Florence Fire Company No. 1. C. C. OLIN, dealer in dry
goods and notions, was born in Ohio in 1841, and remained there on a
farm until fifteen years of age; he then taught school until twenty
years of age, and married Miss Adelia A. Terrie, of Ohio. He went to
Kansas and worked at carpenter work for five years, and then came to
Wisconsin, and settled in Dane County. He was engaged in teaching
school for five years; from there he moved to Outagamie County, Wis.,
and was engaged in teaching, farming, dealing in grain, etc., for
seven years. He then came to Florence, Wis., and engaged in the
mercantile business, and now owns one of the best dry goods and
clothing houses on the Upper Peninsula. He is a member of the Odd
Fellows, Knights of Pythias and Ancient Order of United Workmen, and
has taken all the degrees. He is also Treasurer of the town of
Florence. |
