PLAT MAPS -- if
you have ANY older plat maps of Florence County, please email me!
We have unlimited space here and I would LOVE to post
them. The plat maps are property maps, showing the owner's name
and acreage, etc. These are GREAT
resources as they can fill in the gaps between censuses plus they show
that a person OWNED property, and this can help you trace land
records. Also, when the person dies, this property is
transferred to someone, which then can lead you to PROBATE records and
WILLS....
| These are a few of my
favorite sites for Maps and Gazetteers. Maps are great,
especially the older maps, because they will visually help you
locate the proper town or county where you will find records,
cemeteries, etc. Gazetteers will give you a written description
of the location, plus where the next larger unit of government
is, etc.
