Welcome to Dane County, Wisconsin's Trails to the Past! My name is Jeanne and I am your host to this site. If you find any broken links, please let me know.

Dane County was formed in 1836 as a territorial county. It is surrounded by Iowa County, Sauk County, Columbia County, Dodge County, Jefferson County, Rock County and Green County. It was named after Nathan Dane, a Massachusetts delegate to the Congress of the Confederation. He helped to establish Wisconsin out of the Northwest Territory.
