Durward's Glen Cemetery - St. Camillus Novitiate

Caledonia Township, Columbia County Wisconsin.

State Road 78 west of Interstate 90/94 to Durwards Glen, north on Durwards Glen to McLeisch Road. Cemetery on West side of road. On 11-01-1862, Scotish immigrants Bernard I. and Margaret Durward moved to land now known as Durward's Glen. In 1866 they donated land for a cemetery and built a stone chapel known as St Mary of the Pines. On Sept. 8, 1932 Bernard's daughter Mary T. deeded the Glen to the Order of St. Camillus. The first burial took place in 1863. The cemetery book was destroyed in a fire in 1946. There have been newspapers articles and books published about the Durward family and the Glen. These books can be found in local libraries, historical societies and the Wisconsin State Historical Society in Madison WI. 2002 transcription by Deb Jensen. 2005 transcription by Hazel & Ray Rogers.
