Biggs

Waterford, Michigan
Comments: George Ruloff my g.g.g.
grandfather immigrated to the United States in 1851 from Germany to Racine
County, Wisconsin. He met and married Bridgett O'Hara about 1856 in Racine
County, who also immigrated in 1856, from Ireland. 4 children (Mary, Louisa,
Hannah, and Henry) were born in Racine before the family left the area for
Michigan sometime after 1860, since they were on the 1860 census for Racine
county, 5th Ward page 189. The 1900 Michigan census says he was naturalized. I'm
wondering where or if the naturalization records exist. Would appreciate any
help in locating this information or anything else anyone could offer. Thank you
in advance Barbara Biggs

Comments: Hi! I'm researching the
family tree for my grandchildren. I had originally begun my work in the 70s for
my children, but lacked the time. I am looking for information on the Morey
family, who may have lived in the Burlington area in the early to mid-1800s.
Frank Morey, my husband's grandfather, was born in Burlington February 13, 1882
to Charles and Amelia (Potter) Morey. The family moved to Eureka Township
(Greenville) Michigan, where Charles died in 1919 and Amelia died in 1902.
Charles was born in 1842 and Amelia was born Amelia Louise Potter April 10,
1846. Any information you can provide on this family would be greatly
appreciated. In turn, I would be happy to provide more information on Charles
and Amelia, should anyone need it. Thank you so much!

Comments: Great Website Burlington! I'm
researching the John and Minnie (maybe a nick name) Jacob family who came to
Wisconsin in 1855, possibly directly to Burlington. One of their sons, Frank,
married Josephine Melchert who was born in Wisconsin. A family member had
recorded that Frank died in Burlington on January 28, 1928, and Josephine died
on January 27, 1927, but I have not been able to confirm this. They may have
been members of St. Mary's Church. Children of Frank and Josephine: John,
Robert, Sophie, Clara, Ida, Bertha, George, Louis, Andrew, Otto and Fritz. Any
information on the Jacob family would be appreciated.

Comments: So happy to find this site! I am
researching ancestors who emigrated from Wedmore, Somersetshire, England in the
late 1840's-1850's. George and Betsey Roper Tincknell were Burlington residents
in the 1850's census. Betsey's sister, Jane Roper Evans Mrs Samuel Evans) also
lived in Burlington. W.S. VanBuskirk was another family member who emigrated to
Burlington in 1850. Several children were born in Burlington including Jane
Tincknell Aug 1849, Frederick George Tincknell, July 1851 and Amelia Tincknell,
July 1853. Amelia may be buried there. These families left the Burlington, WI
area for Dyersville, IA mid-1850's. Any information would be
appreciated!
