Obituary of Harvey C. Sargent - December 8, 1934

HARVEY C. SARGENT, SPANISH WAR VET, PASSES AWAY TODAY, Funeral services will be held at the residence Monday afternoon.

Harvey C. Sargent, 58, died at 12 o'clock this noon in a local hospital where he was a patient since Monday.  He had been in poor health for several years.

Born in Oshkosh, Sargent came to Green Bay 17 years ago.  He worked for a few years at the Green Bay Drop Forge company, and for the past eleven years was employed by the Wisconsin Public Service corporation as shop foreman in the electric meter department.  An active member of the United Spanish War Veteran's association, he held a department office at the time of his death, that of quartermaster, and was adjutant of the local Joseph Meurer camp.  He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Modern Woodmen.

Survivors include his wife and seven children:  John, Green Bay; Mrs. George Gruselle, Green Bay; Harvey C. Jr, Superior; Clarendon, at home; Earl, student at the University of Wisconsin; Leland and MaryJane at home, also one sister, Mrs. Edward Sallon, Long Beach, Cal., and four grandchildren.

The body is at home, 1481 Eliza St., and funeral services will be conducted there at 2:30 Monday afternoon, Dr. Leonard A. Parr officiating.  Burial will be in Woodlawn.  The Spanish War Veterans will furnish pallbearers and the firing squad, and will conduct their own rites at the grave.
