FISCHER -At her late residence in this village Thursday morning, March 29, 1888, MRS. FREDERICK FISCHER, ageed 36 years.

Among the numerous deaths that have occurred here during the past year, none have (sic) been so unexpected as was that of Mrs. Fischer. She was an examplary (sic) wife and mother and was highly esteemed by all who had the pleasure of her acquaintance. She leaves a husband and four small children to mourn her loss. Words are powerless on occasions of this kind to express the sympathy felt for the afflicted ones as they sit beneath the shadow of so great a sorrow.

Reference must be given to Bayfield County Press, Saturday, March 31, 1988. Note that poor Mrs. Fischer is not given the courtesy of having her given name in her obituary.

OBITUARY - URHO FRASA

Reprinted from the "Iron River Pioneer" March 25 1943 Iron River Memories Column by Beverlee Thivierge

The brothers and sisters of Urho Frasa were deeply shocked when they received a telegram from Camp Hood, Texas, informing them that their brother, Urho, died of meningitis that morning. Urho was but 19 years of age, and left here five weeks ago with the Bayfield contingent. It appears that contagion of one sort or another has kept the camp under quarantine ever since he arrived there. So sudden was his attack that when he wrote a letter to his brother, Armas, here last Saturday night, he was quite all right, yet the telegram announcing his death arrived here a full day before his letter came. Urho was born in Oulu and grew to yourng manhood there. He is survived by five sisters, Lillian Frasa of Duluth; Mrs. George Anderson of Maple Park, Ill., Mrs. Ole Erickson of Duluth; Mrs. Oscar Lauste of Oulu; and Mrs.Waino Laine, also of Oulu; two brothers, Armas, of this city, an employee at the creamery, and Private William Frasa at Camp Gilroy,Calif. The body is being sent home, and is expected to arrive tomorrow. Funeral arrangements are pending.
