Since the last issue of this paper, two more old residents of this village have departed this life. Mrs. Helen MORAN, wife of the late James C. MORAN, passed away last Sunday morning at St. Josephs Hospital, Ashland. Mrs. Amanda TOMLINSON, wife of James TOMLINSON, who has been an invalid for the past few years, and who went with her husband to Grand Blanc, Michigan, to spend the winters with her daughter, Mrs. Merna PERRY, passed away last Monday, and her body is being returned home for interment in the family plot in the City Cemetery.

Mrs. Helen MORAN was born at Wabasha, Minn., Dec. 30, 1872, and when a young woman came to Iron River with her husband and little family and made her home here ever since, raising a family of six sons and four daughters, as follows: James C., Richard and Thomas of Iron River; William of Saco, Mont.; John of Cable; and Joseph of Namakagon; Marie PUDAS, Eva JOHNSON, Lucy HOEFLING and Helen HICKS of Iron River. The six sons of the deceased acted as pall bearers. An unusual incident in connection with Mrs. Morans death was that it occurred just four years to the day after the death of her husband.

Joe MORAN of this city, who has been teaching school at Namakagon, has announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for clerk of the Circuit Court. He has been informed that Percy NEWHOUSE, present clerk, is now employed at the DuPont Barksdale Plant and will not be a candidate to succeed himself as clerk, and that is the reason he decided to enter the field.

Emil MAKI came up from Detroit last week to visit his family. He is working for the Packard Motor Co., and helping to build Rolls-Royce and other airplane and Marine engines, which Emil says are the "best in the world." Pride in workmanship is what makes American industry great.
