Beverlee Thivierge

Reprinted from the Iron River Pioneer - July 2, 1942

Sunday afternoon at 2 oclock, a party of Oulu young men, Arne and Werner NEVALA, Eli REINHOLM and William HUKKANEN were passing through the narrows between Hart and Millicent Lakes on the Pike Chain, when someone got up in the heavily laden little boat and it rocked and tipped and all were soon in the water. All succeeded in swimming about 150 feet to shore, but William HUKKANEN, perhaps the best swimmer in the party, did not make it. The deceased was born in Negaunee, Mich., 25 years ago, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William HUKKANEN of the town of Oulu.
