Rachel Bessie Colburn, 84, of Adams died at the Adams County Memorial Hospital Friday, Jan 4, 1985, following a lengthy illness.
Rachel was born Oct 30, 1900 in Easton Township, Adams County, the daughter of George and Emma Neff. She was married to Albert H Colburn Oct 30, 1919, in Adams County. Mr Colburn died Sep 15, 1970.
Besides her own children, Rachel made a home for many others who needed a home. She worked for many years at the Grand Marsh post office as a clerk. Six years ago she left her home in Grand Marsh to live with her son, Lawrence, in Adams.
She was a charter member of the Grand Marsh Congregational Church and a member of the Church's Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary of Grand Marsh.
She is survived by her six children, four sons and two daughters: Thaine, Friendship, Keith, Colorado Springs, Colo; Donald, Tacoma, Wash; Lawrence, Adams; Cynthia Boyce, Friendship; and Dawn DeMott, Oxford; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Easton Cemetery.
