Obituary of Kathryn Colby who Died in Milwaukee at Hospital, Tues December 17
Kathryn E Colby, the beloved daughter of Mr and Mrs Warren Colby of Easton was born August 12, 1907, in the town of Easton, where her whole life was spent except during her attendance upon high school at Friendship. She graduated from the rural school of East Easton and from the Friendship high school with most creditable standings. Kathryn was a very popular girl. She was modest and unassuming, always kind and courteous. Her teachers held her in high esteem. She was always glad to serve when called upon. She was a talented musician and while pursuing the high school corses, played the piano for the orchestra.
Having ambition to fit herself for a life work she went to Milwaukee where one of her sisters lived, with the intention of entering a business college. It was while at the home of her sister that she was smitten with double pneumonia. She was removed to a hospital in the hope of saving her life but all efforts were unavailing. She passed to the heavenly home on Tuesday, December 17.
Her body was brought home for interment in the family lot of the Easton cemetery. Funeral services were held at the home Friday, December 20, at which there was present a large company of sympathetic friends and neighbors. Rev Thos Barker spoke words of comfort and Robert Roseberry tenderly performed the last sad serfice to the mortal remains.
"She lives -- in all the past
She lives; nor to the last
Of seeing her again will I despair
In dreams I see her now,
And on her angel brow
I see it written, "Thou shalt see me
there."
