Jennie May Halstead Colby was born January 29, 1868, at Darlington, Wisconsin. She was the youngest daughter of Isaac and Lydia Halstead.
At the age of ten she came to Easton with her parents, and the rest of her life was spent in that vicinity. For several years previous to her marriage she taught in the local schools.
On Jun 21, 1892 she was united in marriage to Warren I Colby. Five children were born to them, two sons and three daughters. Two children, Floyd and Kathryn, preceded her in death, also her husband, who passed away only seven weeks ago.
On Sunday, November 14, 1948 she passed away very quietly in her sleep at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 16 days.
She leaves to mourn their loss, her son, loyd, at home, two daughters, Irene Oakes of Plainville, and Dorothy Wilson of Madison, six grandchildren, two great granddaughters and many other relatives and friends.
She was a faithful wife, and a loving mother. Her home was her world and she will be greatly missed by those whe leaves behind.
Funeral services were held in the funeral home at Friendship at 2 o'clock on Thursday after noon. Rev J T O'Neill officiated. Mrs Al Peters and Mrs Norman Kurth sang appropriate hymns accompanied by Mrs Harry Spindler at the piano.
Pall bearers were: Messrs Curtis Neff, Fred Witt, Tom Day, Fred Reichhoff, Roy Babcock, Maurice Roller.
Interment was made in Easton cemetery. Funeral was directed by the Roseberry Brothers.
