In 1941 she was called to Washington, D C after having passed a Civil Service Examination in Chicago. She then worked at the Pentagon as a stenographer in the Transportation Corps and 3 years for the Quartermaster Corps, retiring in 1955 and settling on the home farm in Adams County in 1956.
