Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 28, at 2 pm for George Daniel Colby, 71, Grand Marsh, at Roseberry's Funeral Home. Reve Duane Longfellow, Baraboo, officiated and burial was made in the Easton cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Billy McChesney, Gary Robertson, Bob Williams, Douglas Colby, Francis Churchill and Jerry Churchill.
Death occurred at 12:30am Monday, Aug 26, at the Adams County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.
Mr Colby was born in Adams County April 11, 1892, the son of Charles and Josephine Colby, and lived here all his life.
On Sept 13, 1916 he married Louise Engnath and 11 children were born to this union, 7 boys and 4 girls. The Colbys were farmers and Mr Colby was retired at the time of his death.
Surviving are his wife, the sons, John, Hales Corners, Kenneth and George, Rio, Alfred, Milwaukee, Arnold, Antioch, Ill, Ronald, Genessee, Edwin, Nekoosa; daughters, Mrs Eva McChesney, Grand Marsh, Mrs Mildred Robertson, Milwaukee, Mrs Alberta Williams, Waukesha, Mrs LuAnn Schaetzka, Oxford; two brothers, Darwin from Texas and Harold Colby, White Creek; two sisters, Louise Colby, White Creek, Mrs Ruth Burns, Endeavor, 36 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.
