Funeral services for Curtis Hiram Neff were held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, June 7th at Roseberry's funeral home in Friendship with Rev Glenn Dunn, Westfield, officiating. Burial followed at Easton cemetery. Mr and Mrs Joseph Engemoen sang two songs accompanied by Robert Ebert.
Curtis HiramNeff was born at Waukesha, Wisconsin October 17, 1889, the son of George and Emma Howard Neff. He passed away at the Adams County Memorial Hospital June 4 after a short illness at the age of 77.
He came to Easton while very young, where he was active in community life until his death. January 28, 1913 he was united in marriage to Cora Edna Wood. To this union five children were born. Shortly after their marriage, he purchased his grandfather's farm, in the town of Easton, where they lived until 1945. At that time they left the farm and purchased the store of Mrs Amy Dunn in the village of White Creek. The continued to operate the store until his retirement. He served on the school and town boards a number of years.
Mrs Neff passed away on October 31, 1960. Mr Neff continued to keep is home until last year when he purchased a trailer which he loacted near his daughter. He resided there until his death.
He leaves to mourn his death two sons, Ronald of Villa Park, Ill, and Donald of Litchfield, Ill, a daughter, Belva Parr of Easton, a sister Rachel Colburn of Grand Marsh, a brother Frank of Waukegan, Ill, 14 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and a host of friends.
Preceding him in death were: his wife, Edna, two infant sons, a brother, Lester, a sister Esther.
Pallbearers were Lee Neff, Willard C and Edwin Parr, William Geegan, Thaine and Lawrence Colburn.
Others from away were Dwilla Cooper of Lincoln, William Geegans of Hometown, Lee Neffs of Peoria, Norman Winslows of Scales Mound, all of Illinois, also Philip Winslows of Twin Bluffs, John Lindsays of Colby, Walter Fischers of Waukesha, Ellis Roller of Oshkosh, Polly Colburn of Tomah and other friends of Wisconsin Rapids, Baraboo and surrounding communities.
