Allen Frederick Schoff passed away at his residence at White Creek Aug 18th. Deceased was 64 years and 24 days old, born in Brasher, St Lawrence Co, NJ July 24, 1846. On the 31st of Oct 1869 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Thompson of White Creek, nine children were born of the marriage, two dead Cora and Gertrude who died young, seven survive. Those remaining are his widow Louise, his children Eleanor of Kilbourn, Fredrick of Point Bluff, Bertha Mary of Plainville, Ethel Louise of Merrill, Earl Ira of White Creek, Roy Allen of Blanchardville and Henry who is still at home. Deceased was well known and well beloved by all who knew him.
The funeral of the deceased was held last Sunday from his residence to the church and from the church to the cemetery. Rev Dean officiating referred to the spiritual and material death of man; at the material death, the spirit again going back to God who gave it, as Paul referring to Christians had said "Absent from the body present with the Lord". Mrs Willard was organist and had charge of the singing, much credit is due to her and her associates. Mrs Deans was present and sung. Mr Greenwood had charge of the funeral.
The great number that turned out made the building inadequate to hold them, many having to stay outside. The Press joins with the many friends in their sympathy for the bereaved family.

Mr Allen Schoff, who had been seriously ill for two weeks died Aug 18 and was buried Sunday. He was one of the old residents of this community, having lived here since boyhood and holding a warm place in the hearts of all who knew him. His death has seemed especially sad as his wife is in very poor health and he had taken such tender care of her. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Rufus Schoff and daughter Myrtle and Mrs Lute Cummings of Merrill and Geo Schoff of Mauston attended the funeral. His son, Roy Schoof, came home Monday, but could not get here for the funeral.
