Martin T. Harstad, one of the hustling and energetic businessmen of Nassau, Minnesota has had an experience along commercial line that well qualifies him for every demand that may come as a dealer in farm goods and machinery. He is doing well for himself and his many friends are pleased with his progress.

Martin was born in Selbu on March 6, 1868, where his father, John J. was engaged as an architect and carpenter by trade. John J, was determined to seek a home and a larger success in this country and came to Minneapolis in 1880. He located in Grove City and continued his trade until 1892, when he moved to Lac Qui Parle County. John J. died in 1899.

Martin came with his parents to America and was educated in Grove City, to prepare him for life as the times afforded. In 1886, he went on the road as a traveling agent for a harvesting machine company located in Mpls. In 1892, he entered the employment of McCormick Harvester Company, again as an agent. In 1901, he went with Champion Harvester until 1903, when he came to Nassau, Minnesota.
