Rolf Fjerum

Rolf Fjerum was born in Klæbu near Trondheim, Norway on the 4th of November, 1855.  He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew to manhood in his native land. He came to America in the spring of 1880 coming directly to Menomonie where he found employment in the saw mills of the Knapp, Stout, Lumber Co.

On the 17th of March 1887 he was united in marriage to Olava Eli. They lived in North Menomonie one year then moved to a farm in the town of Menomonie near Teegarden where they lived 2 years. In the spring of 1890 they moved to their farm in the Town of Sherman where they lived over 53 years.

Mr. Fjerum passed away peacefully at 9:30 pm Dec. 28 [1944] at the age of 88 years 1 month and 24 days. His wife preceded him in death of the 24th of Oct. 1943. One daughter died several years ago.

Mr. Fjerum is survived by one son Ingvald Fjerum at home, 1 sister Mrs. Lena Bederson of Bawlf, Alta, Canada and two sisters in Norway. Mr. Fjerum was a member of the Tramway Lutheran Church and later member of Christ Lutheran Church and was an active member until old age and poor health made it difficult for him. Mr. Fjerum was the last of the old pioneers of his community to pass away. Mr. Fjerum was a good Christian and a good citizen and neighbor and will be missed by all who knew him. He will be buried beside his wife on t heir grave lot in the Tramway Lutheran Cemetery.
