Peder Erickson Svardahl came to America from Budal, Norway. He arrived at the home of his brother near Lake Hendricks in June 1879. He used the name Peder Erickson in America.

In 1884 Peder married Anna Udsethoien. They homesteaded in Lake Hendricks Twp, Brooks Co, Dakota Territory and lived in a sod house until 1900 when Peder bought 80 acres and built a house and barn. The property has been in the family since 1884.

Peder was a charter member of the Singsaas Church in Brookings County. Children: 4 sons and two daughters.  Son Alfred Erickson, b. 1887, married Gina Hexem Nov. 11, 1919. Alfred and Gina had children: Philmon, Donald and Mayme.

NOTE: Peder E. Svardal, age 23, railway worker, emigrated from Trondhjem to Marshall, MN June 5, 1879 on the ship Dampskib Tasso. His residence is listed as Støren, Norway at that time.
