George Dybdahl

George Dybdahl,  the son of Olaus and Bena Dybdahl, was born Oct. 8, 1869 in Trondhjem, Norway and came to Dakota Territory with his parents in 1885.

George married Nicolina Trygstad, daughter of Ole and Helen Marie (Pederson) Trygstad on Nov. 24, 1897 at First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. They farmed in Medary and Sterling townships until moving to Brookings in 1919.

Children: Arthur, b. 1898, d. 1907; Clarence, Nellie, Alice and Helen. Clarence, b. 1900, d. 1982 married Bernice Wilson in 1926 at Doland. The family moved to Glendale, CA in 1943. Children: Lyle, Richard and Douglas. Nellie, b. 1902 married Harold Elfstrom and had children Yvonne, Naomi, Gene and Gary.  Alice, b. 1908, d. 1942. Helen, b. 1910, d. 1950 married William Johnson. Child: Alice Lee.

Note: Jørgen O.Dybdal emigrated May 20, 1885 from Bjugn, age 15, with his mother and siblings - with destination Brookings, Dakota.
