Anderson, Anthony, merchant and city treasurer - Cresco (Iowa) - born 23 Oct 1844, near Stenkjår, Trondheim stift, Norway.  After having received a common school education in his native country, he emigrated to America when twenty-one years of age, and worked at the tinner's trade in the southern part of Minnesota for four years, then opened up a small tin shop in Hesper, Winneshiek county, Iowa, which he kept for three years. In 1872 he moved to Cresco, where he was employed by others for five years, then started his present hardware business, having a fine trade. Anderson has been city treasurer for two terms, and is a Democrat. he is a member of the United Norwegian Lutheran Church; was married in 1872 to Anne Uldrikson. They have eight children.
