port came from many areas north and south of Trondheim so not all were
necessarily from Trøndelag. This free database comes from the Archives
of Norway.

growing database of records from the National Archives of Norway.

authority at the local or central level (church records, census, maps,
heritage). You can visit the archives to use the materials yourself or
you can write to ask for assistance. Please note that they are
understaffed and requests for the archives to do your research may take
a long time to get a response. The archives has moved to a new location

immigrant families from the Trøndelag region of Norway (Nord-Trøndelag
and Sør-Trøndelag). Additional information about the mail list is

Trønderlag of
America - The Trønderlag of America is a bygdelag (lag) — an
organization or association of emigrants and their descendants from
the Trøndelag region (middle) of Norway and includes both Nord- and
Sør-Trøndelag. Lags were established in the U.S. to maintain the ties
to the homeland and provide a place for those emigrants to assemble at
least once a year. Trønderlaget was established in 1908 and will
be celebrating the anniversary of its founding on August 9, 2008
in Fergus Falls, MN. The Trønderlag of America website also
contains an extensive genealogy resources page.
