My "Woodcock Line" Connection

Martha M. Woodcock Horrell and Ann Catherine Woodcock Wallace are sisters. It is through both of these sisters that I make my connection to the "Woodcock Lines". These 2 sisters are both 2nd great grandmothers to me.

They are daughters of John Bizzell Woodcock and Mary Jane Moore, my 3rd great Grandparents. Martha was the 5th child and Ann Catherine was the 9th child born. The other children were:

Eliza Jane
John Marvin
Mary Sapphire
Margaret Elizabeth
Flora A.
Hanson Melvin
Richmond David
Nelson Tyler

John Bizzell was the son of William Woodcock and Rhoda Hennessey.

After the death of Mary Jane Moore, my 3rd great grandmother, John Bizzell married to Elizabeth Ann Henry, daughter of William and Olivia Register Henry. Elizabeth Ann was my 2nd great grandaunt, as she was sister to my 2nd great grandmother, Eliza Jane Henry Barnhill. She married my 3rd great grandfather and I suppose became my 3rd great step-grandmother.

Elizabeth Ann and John Bizzell had 10 children born to them during their marriage. These children were:

Thomas Henry
Frank Vollis
George Washington
Willie Percy
Graham Roberson
Robert M.
Preston Duncan
Elizabeth Lucas
Ida N.
Augustus

As indicated, my connections to the "Woodcock Lines" began with Martha M. and Ann Catherine, my two 2nd great grandmothers. I also am connected to this line through Hanson Melvin Woodcock, a brother of Martha and Ann Catherine, who married my great aunt, Melissa Jane Barnhill.

There are marriages between the Barnhill, Horrell, and Woodcock lines throughout many generations.

Some additional notes on John Bizzell Woodcock and Elizabeth Ann Henry are:
- John Bizzell donated the land on which the current "Woodcock Cemetery" exists
- Elizabeth Ann and John Bizzell provided the land for the old "Colvin's Creek" Church to be built upon.
