Old maps are great fun. It's always interesting to see how an area has evolved over the years. Towns "vanish"; cities change in importance (as evidenced by the change in type size). An old map gives us an idea of what localities and features were important to the folks of that day.I was particularly interested in the two railroad lines shown on the map - the Great Northern route from Everett east through Monroe, Sultan, Gold Bar and Index is one that the present-day Empire Builder travels. The Everett-Monte Cristo Railroad (from Hartford through Granite Falls and Robe) was the main route for ore from the mines in the Monte Cristo area to the processing plant in Everett.
