The following is a quote from General Mayflower Society about
the Five Generations Book Project.
"The Mayflower Society publishes the majority of its books as a result of an
ongoing program to identify the first five generations of Pilgrim descendants.
This Five Generations Project involves the meticulous investigation of primary
records that substantiate the identity of, often obscure, individuals and
families. The time period these books cover is usually from about the time
of the Mayflower landing, in 1620, through the era of the American Revolution."
Compiling this information takes enormous effort.
Research is made doubly
difficult because of the detective work required when dealing with
centuries-old records that are difficult to identify and interpret. We believe
you will find the Five Generation Project books, and our other publications,
an invaluable tool in your genealogy research.
The massive undertaking of the Five Generations
Project has been overseen by
the California Mayflower Society Historian, Mrs. Edith Bates Thomas and now continued
by Judith Swan of the California Mayflower Society. Their
far-sighted and persevering guidance has led to the compilation of this
accurate, evolving record of the Pilgrim Families.
The Five Generation Project Books, contains
detailed sources to support each generation located at the end of each generation.
Because these books have been approved and published by the General Society Mayflower Descendants, an
applicant to the Mayflower Society needs only prove back to the last of their ancestor
listed in these books.
A surname index for each of the Five Generations
Project Books can be viewed by clicking the Passengers name below. In some cases there
are several books to complete the passengers Five Generation Project. The
purpose for indexing these books is to help you find the connecting surnames
that are your Ancestors, which will assist you in documenting your
ancestor to join the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of
Washington. Another way to find surnames in these books is to entered
the couples surnames in the index box below. This search will give you the Volume and Part
in the book where these names appear.

The Junior Membership Committee of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants have
created a set of one-page biographies for each of the male Mayfower pilgrims, who
have descendants. These abbreviated one page stories can be read, printed and/or

The General Society of Mayflower Descendants has not completed or published Silver Books for all Mayflower
Passengers. If the name doesn't have an underline it means a book for this
passenger has not been published yet. As soon as a book is published the index will appear
on this site. As of February 13, 2010 this is all of the books available.
