Membership Benefits

Membership in the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Washington includes membership in The General Society of Mayflower Descendants, as well as being able to attend regular membership gatherings in the State of Washington and General Mayflower Society Annual Meetings.

Members of the Washington Mayflower Society receive the newsletter, "Evergreen Log" published three (3) times annually.

Members also recieve copies of the Mayflower Quarterly published by the General Mayflower Society of Massachusetts which is published four (4) times annually "Mayflower Quarterly".   Subscriptions to the Mayflower Quarterly are available to non-members at an annual rate of $15.00 US.

The Washington Mayflower Society holds two (2) Luncheon Meetings with Historical Educational Speakers & one (1) Summer Picnic Meeting annually for members,  spouses,  junior members,  guests,  visitors  and  prospective members. All meetings are held on Sunday.

As a member of the General Mayflower Society and the Washington State Mayflower Society you can purchase Mayflower Insignia items that can be worn to meetings containing your state of membership and your ancestor's names (in some cases husband & wife), or jewelry that can be worn at any time as ring, necklace, lapel pins and charms for a bracelet. There are other items with Mayflower Insignia such as clocks, glass ornaments, silk ties and a scarf. All of these items may be purchased from Mayflower Insignia - Items For Sale can only be worn by Mayflower Society Members. Insignia items worn on the ribbon can only be worn at Mayflower Meeting or when a Mayflower Member is representing the Mayflower Society at an event.  Read the General Societies Mayflower Insignia Etiquette.

In addition, if you join the Mayflower Society, you will be honoring the memory of those forefathers who helped set the pattern for our great democracy, and you will enter into the fellowship of people who share a common history and ancestry in the passengers of the Mayflower.

The relationship with other Mayflower Society Members is strengthened by the fact that so few passeengers came on the Mayflower. Other Lineage Societies have hundreds of ancestors and the chance of finding a cousin is slim. Washington Mayflower Cousins

Through the programs of this Society, the common history can be made to come alive for you. And if you choose to personally participate in the Society's programs (education of school-age children, for example), you can help make that history come alive for others.

In joining the Mayflower Society, your genealogical record will be filed in a secure place, both with the Washington Society and with the General Society in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This will be an invaluable gift to your descendants to have your records on file with the Society and this will make your family heritage available to future generations and assist them in the establishing of their genealogical lines.

Last benefit of membership in the Mayflower Society is the beautiful Mayflower emblem that is designed to be place on a Mayflower members grave stone. Many years in the future when a descentants of yours visits your grave or views a picture of your grave stone, they will find this Mayflower Emblem and then they will learn they also have Mayflower Ancestors. What a great gift to your future generations informing them of a fact they may never have known.
