John D. Spellman Awards for Exemplary Achievement in Historic Preservation

Please join King County Councilmember Julia Patterson and members of the King County Landmarks Commission as they celebrate National Historic Preservation Month with the 8th Annual Preservation Awards Ceremony. This year's event takes place on Tuesday, May 13, 10:00 a.m. to Noon, at Kent's Senior Activity Center, 600 East Smith Street, Kent, WA 98031. Councilmember Patterson will kick-off the County's new Historic Cemetery Initiative by recognizing Karen Bouton for her remarkable stewardship of the historic SAAR cemetery in Kent. Eagle Scout Mike Redende will receive a certificate of appreciation for his work to restore a building on the historic Dougherty Farm in Duvall, and Patterson will posthumously honor the many achievements of former landmarks commissioner Bob Gruhn who died on April 3, 2008. Bob's widow, Eileen Gruhn, will be accepting the award.
