Everett Herald: 6-5-37, Article with before and after pictures of exterior remodelling. The home of prominent contracter Henry Raborn on Hoyt Av until some time before 1900. Built in 1892, is an unusual case of a building that has suffered more on the outside than on the inside. Still a distinctive structure, the Raborn house features monogrammed woodwork inside and an interesting tower. Its status as an important local rsidence of the initial boom is impaired by the renovated exterior and the lack of builder's photos or similiar material to guide a restoration attempt. 3201 Hoyt Av | Norman, John | Residence until 1925. Built about 1910-1913. See Survey, page 35. Contractor was Hans Solie-- see "Deep Roots", page 21.This large home at 32nd and Hoyt was built for clothing store proprietor Norman about 1913. Norman was not only an active businessman, he was deeply involved in Norweigan Community activities. He served as president of Everett's Norwegian male chorus and was responsible for bringing the first 'Sangerfest' (Norwegian choral convention) ever held on the Pacific Coast to Everett in 1903. He lived here until his death in 1925. While most Classic Revival houses tend to be square or wide in plan with pedimented gable ends and painted white, this vernacular adaptation of this style does have the traditional front entry portico supported by classic-style columns, and unique decorative gable roof dormers. However, the original first story doule hung windows have been replaced with fixed single sash variety, the from portico has been subject to incompatible alteration, and asphalt shingled siding has been applied on the entire exterior. |

The cottage has been painted and repaired but remains very much intact.
