     MRS. LENORE ALLEN DAMMEYER, 61, of Cascade Valley, Windsor, died at 9:25 p. m. Thursday at Binghamton City Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Karl A. Dammeyer; a daughter, Mrs. John Remus of Binghamton; her mother, Mrs. Kathryn Allen of St. Albans; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Baisley of Elmhurst and Mrs. Desmond Jockle of St. Albans; two brothers, Edward Allen of Wyandanch, L. I., and Webb Allen of Cedar Grove, N. J. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church of Cambria Heights, St. Albans. The body was moved to the Clinton E. Wood Memory Chapel, Chapel Street, Windsor, where friends may call today from 7 to 9 p. m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.⁸ She was interred at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City, Broome County, New York, Section 20, Lot 117.^9,10

     "He emigrated to United States circa 1720, and settled in Westwood, PA on 226 acres. The Scotts quite numerously intermarried with the Parke descendants. John Scott was the American founder of this branch of the Scott family. His name appears among the taxables of 1753, of Sadsbury Township. He owned large tracts of land a short distance west of the present city of Coatesville, PA. The large old stone house where John Scott and his grandson, John Scott, Jr., lived and died, still stands, a silent memorial and witness of the past. This family, with their many descendants, were always people of the highest standing and respectability."⁴ He bought property from Thomas Penn 1740 at Chester County, Pennsylvania. The deed states that he bought 150 acres from Thomas and Richard Penn, which he called "Springton". He paid them £23, 14 Sh. 3d. (approximately $50.) The deed was issued in Philadelphia, year of King George II of Great Britain..⁵ John Scott Sr. lived at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1770. He owned 150 acres, and had 2 horses, 3 cattle, 6 sheep and no servants.⁹ His farm is located on Valley Road, between Coatesville and Pomeroy, on the north side of the road in Westwood. The house still stands in 1997 and is being restored by its present owners.¹⁰ He made a will on 14 Feb 1777 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.

Will dated Feb. 14, 1777; proved Apr. 10, 1777.
To grandson John son of Thomas Scott all my land on which I now live in Sadsbury being about 200 acres at 18, except 50 acres to son Thomas during his life.      Patrick Scott was included in a list of church elders in 1763 in the Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, Peachbottom, York County, Pennsylvania.¹⁴ He lived in East Nottingham, Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1770.¹⁵ In John Scott Sr.'s will on 14 Feb 1777 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Patrick was named as an heir.^16,17

Thus, either Patrick Scott, son of John and Elizabeth, also had a brother William, or the Patrick Scott who died in York County is a different person.¹⁸
He is buried in Slate Ridge Cemetery. The old Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church was built on his land. He was a member of the York County Legislature for several years. He was a cabinet maker, a fine workman. He had four daughters.¹⁹

     Thomas Scott was born in 1731 at Chester County, Pennsylvania.^1,2,3 He was the son of John Scott Sr. and Elizabeth Glover. He married Sarah Hope, daughter of Thomas Hope and Jennet Wilken, on 30 Dec 1763 at Highland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^1,3,2 Thomas Scott died on 30 Sep 1808 at East Fallowfield Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^4,5,6,7 He was buried at Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.⁸

     Sarah Hope was born in 1739 in Valley Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^2,3,4,5 She was the daughter of Thomas Hope and Jennet Wilken. She married Thomas Scott on 30 Dec 1763 at Highland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^2,6,3 Sarah Hope died on 20 Sep 1815 at Highland Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^7,2,3,6 She was buried at Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.⁸
     As of 30 Dec 1763,her married name was Scott. In Thomas Hope's will on 11 Feb 1775 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, Sarah was named as an heir.^1,9,10 In Thomas Scott's will, Sarah was named by Thomas to handle his estate on 12 Mar 1806 at Chester County, Pennsylvania.¹¹

     Jennet Wilken was born on 10 Sep 1702.^2,1 She married Thomas Hope a 1720 at Chester County, Pennsylvania.^3,1 Jennet Wilken died on 9 Dec 1771 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, at age 69.^4,5,6,1,3 She was buried at Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.⁴
     Jennet Wilken was also known as Gennet. As of a 1720,her married name was Hope.

     Thomas Hope was born on 2 Feb 1701.^1,2 He married Jennet Wilken a 1720 at Chester County, Pennsylvania.^3,2 Thomas Hope died on 24 Oct 1776 in Pomeroy, Chester County, Pennsylvania, at age 75.^4,5,6 He was buried at Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.⁴
     We do not know Thomas' place of birth. Our first record of him is in the early 1700s at Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church. Thomas was an elder at the Synod in Philadelphia on May 23, 1739, May 26, 1742, May 29, 1752, and May 28, 1755. Upper Octorara was organized about 1720. Thomas' children married Scotch-Irish Presbyterians from the Sadsbury area (Withrow, Wilson, Cowan, Kinkead, McPherson, Scott, and Parke). Most of these in-laws' ancestors can be traced to northern Ireland (County Cowan, County Donegal, etc.) Logic would indicate that Thomas or his father probably came from the north of Ireland. Grover Hope had a genealogist in northern Ireland search the few available records and while they found both Hopes and Wilkens there, they could not find a tie to our Thomas or Jennet.⁷

On 22 Dec 1743 he received a land grant at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, from John Penn ,Thomas Penn, and Richard Penn, proprietors and governors of the Province of Pennsylvania. It consisted of 160 acres.⁸ In James Cowan's will, Thomas was named by James to handle his estate on 29 Sep 1751.^9,10 He made a will on 11 Feb 1775 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. No. 3043.^11,12,13

     John Scott Jr. was born on 1 Nov 1764 at Valley Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^1,2,3 He was the son of Thomas Scott and Sarah Hope. He married Rebecca Witherow on 18 Mar 1795 at Valley Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^2,3,4 John Scott Jr. died on 8 Mar 1824 at age 59.^5,6
     John was left about 200 acres of land by his grandfather John Scott. 50 acres of it was left to his father Thomas during his life. In John Scott Sr.'s will on 14 Feb 1777 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, John was named as an heir.^7,8 In Thomas Scott's will on 12 Mar 1806 at Chester County, Pennsylvania, John was named as an heir.⁹ He made a will on 27 Jan 1824 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.      Rebecca Witherow was born on 4 Mar 1772 at West Caln Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^1,2,3,4,5 She married John Scott Jr. on 18 Mar 1795 at Valley Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^4,6,7 Rebecca Witherow died on 13 Aug 1862 at West Caln Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, at age 90.^8,3,4,6,9 She was buried at Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^10,11
     As of 18 Mar 1795,her married name was Scott. In John Scott Jr.'s will, Rebecca was named by John to handle his estate on 27 Jan 1824 at Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania.^12,13 Rebecca Scott lived in Sadsbury Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania, (Dwelling no. 238, family no. 248) in 1850.^14,15 She resided with Samuel Withrow Scott Sr. and Jane Boyd in Coatesville, Chester County, Pennsylvania, in 1860.¹⁶

     Mary Withrow Scott was born a 1796.³ She was the daughter of John Scott Jr. and Rebecca Witherow. She married Robert Young on 4 Apr 1816.^4,5 Mary Withrow Scott died b 1896.⁶
