The 7 of January 1807 after the publication of three banns of marriage made at the parochial mass between Pierre Guimon, former _voyageur_, currently farmer in this parish, major, son of the late Francois Guimon and of Marie Angelique Simono in legitimate marriage, and Marie Reine Taillon, minor daughter of Michel Taillon, farmer in this parish, and of Marie Boudrio, also in legitimate marriage. The abovesaid Pierre Guimon having presented me a certificate of liberty signed by Messire Cherrier, priest, vicar general of the diocese, dated 31 December 1806, I the undersigned priest cure, not having discovered any impediment between the abovesaid parties, have given them the nuptial benediction after having received their mutual consent and with the approbation of the parents of the bride. NOTE: The parish registers were checked. No prior references to either of these families, and no baptisms for this couple through the year 1811, were found at St-Ours.

1. Peter Demo, b. c. 1760/70 (1840 census) or 1756 (1850 census)--d. 16 January 1852 according to a tombstone at Alburgh, Dickinson Twp., Franklin Co., N.Y., aged 112. Claimed to have been a soldier in Montcalm's command when Wolfe took Quebec in 1759 and afterward a trapper for the Hudson's Bay Company. m. Julia F. __, b. c. 1793/95 or 1800/10, Canada--d. after 1860 (though the obituary of Rosabell (Demo) Taylor says that her mother was Delila Taylor). In 1818/1819, Peter Demo paid for having his children attend school 74 days at North Hero, Vt., Dist. #2, so he must have had older children than those recorded here.

Family legend says that he had 17 children, and that his first wife was an Indian. He is supposedly the subject of a book _Montcalm's Drummer Boy_ by a great-great-great granddaughter, Wilma Pitchford Hayes, but the book cannot be located in standard bibliographies.

There was a Pierre Dumont married to Marie Boileau in Clinton Co., N.Y.These two men cannot be the same. There was also a Dumas family in Clinton Co., N.Y. and the two names were often confused and used interchangeably in the written records.

27 July 1845, at Henryville, Antoine Guimont and Marie Louise LeBert are godparents of Marie Louise, age 13 years, legitimate daughter of F. X. Menard and Reine Charbonneau of Alburg.

A Marcel Guimond married to Angelique Couillard resided at Henryville, apparently had children there, and remained in Canada, for a daughter married in Canada. The child baptized was Caroline Guimond, 6 November 1850, St-Georges-d'Henryville. Godparents: Paul Kirouac and Emilie Methe. The daughter who married was Venerande Guimond, major, m. 29 May 1877 to Edouard Fortin, major, son of Joseph Fortin and Marguerite Lamarche.
