The Dairy & Pantry
The dairy contains memories of early times when the house cow was part of all country properties. The wide doorway is said to have been used to tether the cow while the person milking her could sit inside, with the top part of the door shut, protecting the milker from the elements.
The various meat safes on display are the forerunners of the modern refrigerator. There is also an ice chest, a cream separator and several wood butter churns.
The small passage way between the main house and the dairy is used to store utensils that the forerunners of our modern kitchen time savers. They were probably as popular than as our tools are today.
Meat mincers, grinders, wisks and even an early model apple corer. Many are recognisable, others are not so obvious.
