Membership
I. All persons interested in preserving, publishing, presenting and promoting the history of Sussex County, Virginia.

II.The Classes of Membership:

Regular: $10.00 per year

Sustaining: $25.00 per year

Benefactor: $100.00 per year

Life: $500.00

Student: $5.00 per year

III. Dues

1. Dues are payable by November 1 of each year

2. Members (except Life Members) joining between April 30 and the date of the annual meeting of each year shall pay one half of annual dues for that year.

3. All persons who joined prior to March 12, 2002 are to be considered a Charter Member.

Meeting Information

General Meetings: The Sussex County, Virginia Historical Society meets five times each year on the second Sundays of September, November, January, March and May. The November meeting shall be designated the annual meeting. In the event of special circumstances, the meeting dates may be changed with the approval of the Executive Committee and notice to the membership.

Special Meetings: Special meetings of the general membership may be called by the President or uong the written request of five (5) or more members Only such business as designated in the call may be conducted at the special meeting. Written notice of a special meeting shall be mailed to all members at least ten (10) days prior to the meeting.

Board of Directors Meetings: Board of Directors meetings shall be held quarterly within one month prior to the regular membership meetings. Special meetings of the Board may be called by the President or upon writen request of three (3) or more Board Members. Only such business as stated in the call or special meetings may be conducted. Written notice of a special meeting of the Board shall bhe mailed to all directors at least ten (10) days prior to the date of the meeting.

Quorums: Ten perent (10%) of the members of twenty-five (25) members, whichever is less, of the Corporation, including at least two (2) officers, present at any regular scheduled or duly called meeting of the membership shall constitute a quorum. One-third of the members of the Board, of which at least two (2) are officers, shall constitute a quorum for the Board of Directors meetings. A majority of the Executive Committee wil constitute a quorum.
