Mount Airy Shipping Notes - Introduction

At the end of Surry County Order Book (1775-1785) (Library of Virginia Microfilm roll #32) are forty-nine numbered pages containing the Faulcon & Company accounts of goods & freight shipped through Mount Airy between 15 December 1776 and November 1779. Those entries were written from the back to the front of the respective Order Book. The location of Mount Airy in Surry County is unknown at this time, but it must have been Faulcon property, somewhere between the old town of Cobham (at the mouth of Grays Creek) down the James River to somewhere on Cobham Bay.
