Slave Records from the Drew-Maget Bible
The Surry County Historical Society received an e-mail on March 19, 2007, from Michelle L. Slabaugh of the Cross County, Arkansas, Historical Sociey. Ms Slabaugh wrote that they
Have a Bible which contains births of slaves starting in 1793. The Bible originally belonged to Priscilla DREW who married Samuel MAGET. The Bible evidently went to their son, John Drew Maget, who moved to Northampton Co., NC, from Surry Co., VA. The family & Bible eventually ended up in Arkansas. Would like to make the information on the slaves available on your website.

Note: see also the Will of William Maget of Surry County with list of slaves. His widow was also named Priscilla. Their connection to the following list of slaves is uncertain.
We have also been sent a Study of the Maget Family by J. John Mitchell.
