They Never Knew They Were Kin

An incident such as I'm going to relate to you in the following story has happened many times, due to Scott Countians not knowing their relatives.

Hubert H. McConnell, deceased, was the son of John L. McConnell, grandson of Wm. Walter Wilshire "Chee" McConnell, Great-Grandson of William G. McConnell, Great-Great-Grandson of Sheriff George McConnell.

Hubert McConnell was best friends with his neighbor, Carl Glen Pierson. Glen was one of the nicest gentlemen to ever grow up in the Dan'l Boone Community. Hubert McConnell and Glen Pierson were life long friends. They worked together at Tennessee Eastman and carpooled together to work every day all of their working lives. Both died, being very well respected citizens of their community, and both left families in the same community. Their children laughed together, played together, attended the same schools together and loved one another as neighbors and friends.

What neither family knew: They were kinfolks. Hubert McConnell and Glen Pierson were 4th cousins, both were Great-Great-Grandsons of Sheriff George McConnell.

Carl Glen Pierson was the son of Hiram N. Pierson and Carrie H. Peters born 12/26/1889, daughter of Nancy A. Stallard and William B. Peters. Nancy was the 4th child of Henry V. Stallard and Tabitha Jane Fraley. Henry V. Stallard was the 5th child of Elizabeth Fisher McConnell, born 12/10/1806, who married Feb. 27, 1825 to James Monroe Stallard. Elizabeth Fisher McConnell was the 2nd child of Sheriff George and Susanna Snavely McConnell. James Monroe Stallard was the son of Rawley Duncan Stallard and Elizabeth Hutchinson.
