Former Resident Expires at Home of Niece

Mr. James Nicholas Bailey, a well known resident of the city, died suddenly at 11 o'clock yesterday at the home of his niece, Mrs. Aubrey Perkins at Fern Cliff, Louisa County. Mr. Bailey was born in Charlottesville April 6, 1851, and was reared at "Monticello," where he resided until the property was purchased by the late Jefferson M. Levy. He married Miss Katherine Chewning, of Fluvanna County, who died Oct. 12, 1924. The surviving children are Ernest L. Bailey, of this city, and Robert L. Bailey of Washington, D.C. The body was brought here today and the funeral will be held from the residence of his son, 222 Court Square, at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon and the interment will be in the family section in Maplewood Cemetery. Mr. Bailey's father, Dr. Rice Bailey, was a member of the Monticello Guard, as were his two brothers, Lieut. Rice Bailey and Charles Bailey.
