Division D Block 8 is labeled "permiscous" on the City cemetery map dtd 1933. This could be a misspelling of "permiscuous," a term used for cemetery areas where burial space is purchased one space at a time, instead of the usual purchase of a larger family plot where related persons could be buried. Unlike areas containing family plots at Maplewood, this area is without trees, shrubs, coping or other boundary markers.
Division D Block 8 holds four 18ft by 18ft sections. Each section has space for at least ten adult graves and these adult size spaces are numbered (for the purpose of our inventory) one through ten.

The space numbers in the lists below refer to the location of the grave marker and not necessarily the location of the body. Sometimes a grave marker sits in between two spaces and is labeled to reflect that (e.g. 1/2 sits in the middle of space 1 and space 2). The marker may have been originally placed in that location or shifted to that area due to soil erosion. If a grave marker holds more than one name we have not attempted to guess which space holds which body unless a footstone or other evidence makes the placement clear. It is common to find two or three markers in one "grave" space, especially where children have been buried.

NOTE: No deeds have been found for this area.
NOTE: The headstone of W. S. Averitt faces West while all other stones face East.
NOTE: City cemetery records do not list burial for MAMIE RICE. Her partial headstone found face down on ground at Grv Space 5. This may not be the actual location of her grave.
NOTE: City cemetry records do not list burial for MARY RION. Her partial headstone found leaning against the marker for MARGARET RION.
NOTE: City cemetery records lists the burials of MARY RICE (a child with dod 1840) at Grv 10 and NANNIE RION (a child d. 3/18/1884) at Grv 5. Could this be a records error made by misreading headstones for Mamie Rice and Mary Rion?
NOTE: Headstone for M. STONE is sunken so that only a few inches of the stone is visable. There is additional inscription under the soil.
