Division A Block 8 holds two 18ft by 18ft family sections. Each family section has space for at least ten adult graves and these adult size spaces are numbered (for the purpose of our inventory) one through ten.

The space numbers in the lists below refer to the location of the grave marker and not necessarily the location of the body. Sometimes a grave marker sits in between two spaces and is labeled to reflect that (e.g. 1/2 sits in the middle of space 1 and space 2). The marker may have been originally placed in that location or shifted to that area due to soil erosion. If a grave marker holds more than one name we have not attempted to guess which space holds which body unless a footstone or other evidence makes the placement clear. It is common to find two or three markers in one "grave" space, especially where children have been buried.

NOTE: An unidentified rectangular (abt 8 inch x 4 inch) block found under the soil on line with and south of marker at Space 6.
NOTE: City cemetery records list Julian Loving ("Julian Bankin Loving") at Grv 2. These records do not list Elizabeth Magruder or John Neilson.
NOTE: The obituaries of Sarah Magruder and Julia Magruder state ALLAN B. MAGRUDER (died abt 1881) is buried in this section.
NOTE: An online genealogy, The Inman Compendium," lists THOMAS MAGRUDER buried at Maplewood. The author was contacted but could not remember his source for this information.

The whole section is surrounded by iron fencing, even though purchased by two different families (although could be related). The fence gate is missing. One side of the fencing was crushed by a falling tree limb in September 2001.
NOTE: City cemetery map dtd 1933 shows Perpetual Care paid for this section.
NOTE: City Maplewood Records list burials for the following names but no grave markers have been found: JOHN BRECHIN, a child (d. ?), and ANDREW MELVIN BRECHIN (d.1948).
NOTE: Daily Progress Obituary states ELEANOR GILMORE BRECHIN (d.1936) , wife of Andrew Melvin Brechin, buried in this section but no grave marker found.
NOTE: City burial records record the 2/10/1936 burial of Mrs. Alexander C. Brechin. This is obviously an error. Mrs. Alexander C. Brechin--Martha E. Brechin--is buried at Space 7/8 beside her husband. Mrs. Andrew Melvin Brechin was buried on 2/10/1936.
