Division A Block 6 holds four 18ft by 18ft family sections. Each family section has space for at least ten adult graves and these adult size spaces are numbered (for the purpose of our inventory) one through ten.
6 7 8 9 10
South North
1 2 3 4 5
The space numbers in the lists below refer to the location of the grave marker and not necessarily the location of the body. Sometimes a grave marker sits in between two spaces and is labeled to reflect that (e.g. 1/2 sits in the middle of space 1 and space 2). The marker may have been originally placed in that location or shifted to that area due to soil erosion. If a grave marker holds more than one name we have not attempted to guess which space holds which body unless a footstone or other evidence makes the placement clear. It is common to find two or three markers in one "grave" space, especially where children have been buried.

in City burial records but her Daily Progress
obituary reports "interment will take place in the
family section in Maplewood cemetery..."
NOTE: JOHN J. UTZ does not appear in City burial records
but his Daily Progress obituary records his burial at Maplewood.

NOTE: City Database lists owner of this section as "Herndon."
NOTE: Cemetery Map dtd 1933 shows Perpetual Care paid for this section.
NOTE: A concrete retaining wall surrounds this section with nine short obelisk-shaped markers outlining the 18 ft square space. The retaining wall is broken in places, sitting askew and one large section has fallen into the adjoining Watson area.
NOTE: City Database places Virginia A. Herndon at Grv 2, Alphonso D. Payne at Grv 5, and Annie L. Herndon at Grv 5.
NOTE: What looks like a decorative top for a monument sits at the eastern edge of Space 2. It does not seem to match or belong to any monuments in the immediate area. Perhaps moved here by vandals?
DIVISION A BLOCK 6 SECTION 3
Space 1-----HAROLD M. CARVER d. 1899
Space 2-----ALPHONSO P. CARVER d. 1910
Space 3-----THOMAS PAYNE CARVER d. 1918

NOTE: City Database identifies section owner as Thomas Payne Carver.
NOTE: Cemetery Map dtd 1933 records Perpetual Care paid for this section.
NOTE: Section was at one time surrounded by a brick structure flush with soil. Much of this structure is now submerged or has deteriorated. Weeds between seams continue the deterioration. Being flush with soil, it is regularly being run over and damaged by grass cutting equipment.
NOTE: City Database locates James Thomson at Grv 8 and Velora Thomson at Grv 9.
NOTE: City Database does not list Elizabeth Fowler. Existing stone found.

Space 9-----NO MARKER FOUND
Space 10----NO MARKER FOUND
NOTE: This family section is in the oldest section of the cemetery yet the City Database does not record a burial here until 1929. Throughout the section are sunken areas and substanial holes as if the ground has settled over graves or removed markers. I believe there are earlier graves, unrecorded, at this site.
NOTE: City Database lists two owners for this section: Len Watson and Linwood Watson.
NOTE: City Database lists burial for J. R. BELLAMY 8/13/1943. No marker found. Suspect name is actually spelled BELLOMY and is related to Mary Belllomy Watson.
NOTE: The grave marker for CHARLES L. WATSON appears not to be in its original location. It sits askew, at the lower end of the grave area, and oriented to the north.
Thanks to Martha Levering for completing the inventory for this area.
