George L Sisson, 78, died Monday in a nursing home at Shawsville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Audrey M Sisson, two sons, Hugh Sisson, Shawsville, and Vance Sisson, Laredo, Tx., four brothers, James A., Wilbur C., Edward J., all of Shawsville, Wade K Sisson, Knoxville, Tn..

Funeral will be at 2pm today (Thursday 10-10-1963) at Piedmont Methodist Church with burial in Piedmont Cemetery. Richardson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Price, Charles Luther

Charles Luther Price, 87, of Blacksburg died Tuesday in a Radford Hospital.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Helen Huff, Blacksburg, three sons, Melvin K Price, Blacksburg, Henry W Price, Norfolk, Albert L Price, Miami, Fl.; two sisters, Mrs J L White, Blacksburg.

Kontkanen, Mrs. Anna

Mrs. Anna Kontkanen, 81, died last Wednesday (10-1-1963) in a local nursing home in Christiansburg.

Surviving are two sons, Theodore Kontkanen, Christiansburg, Constantine, Kantkanen, Arlington; a sister, Justina Palomaki, Finland, a brother Isaac Walli, Finland.

Graveside services were held at 4 pm Friday at Captain George Cemetery, in Floyd County.

Snyder, Albert S B

Albert Stanley Beamer Snyder, 64 died Sunday in Blacksburg.

He is survived by seven sisters; Mrs. Kester L. Akers, Mrs. William Stanger, Mrs. Agnes Surface, Mrs Clara Graves, Mrs. Clarence Slusser, all of Blacksburg; Mrs. Hobert Shepard, Cicero, Indiana, Mrs. D. R. Smith, Radford; two brothers, John S Snyder, W. E. Snyder both of Blacksburg.

Funeral services were held at 2pm Wednesday (10-9-1963) at the Northside Chapel, North Progress St., with burial in Westview Cemetery.

William B Dunn

William Burton Dunn, 66, Rt. 1, Elliston, died in a Roanoke hospital Thursday (10-3-1963)

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary G Dunn, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Ann Jones of Christiansburg, Miss Florence Dunn, Elliston; three sons, Howard W., Neeley J., both of Elliston, George A Dunn, Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Sneffer, Beckley Wv., Mrs. Della Smith, Elliston.

Funeral service was at 2 pm last Sunday (10-6-1963) at the Midway Baptist Church, Ironto, with burial in the Sessler Cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Brown

Mrs. Mary Brown, 79, of Christiansburg, died last Monday in a Washington D C., hospital.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bessie A Payne, Washington, DC.; one sister Jannie Thomas Cambria.

Funeral was held at 1pm Friday at the Ashbury Methodist Church, with burial in the Christiansburg Cemetery.

Henry S Allen

Henry S Allen, of Ridgewood, NJ., formerly of  Christiansburg, died in a Ridgewood Hospital last Tuesday at the age of 59.

He is survived by his wife the former Miss Katherine Rangley, of Christiansburg, five sisters, Miss Edith Allen, of Miami, Fl.; Miss Emily Allen, Miss Mary Allen, and Mrs Charles W Crush, all of Christiansburg; and Lt. Llorence Allen of Jonesville, and a brother, Col. Richard Allen also of Miami Fl.

Allen was a sales manager for the Bennett Heat Treating Company of Newark, N J.

He was a graduate of Christiansburg High School and attended the Newark Engineering School in Newark. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a Mason.

Final rites for him were conducted here at Richardson Funeral Home at 10:30 last Friday by Dr. Cothran G Smith.

Pallbearers were Quinn Harless, Henry Stone,Jr., Everett Pharis, W R Sheltonand James Haymaker, , all of Christiansburg, and Harry Dangerfield of Roanoke. Interment was in Sunset Cemetery where Masonic rites were held, conducted by John Myers, Jr.

Among those from out of town attending the final rites for him were his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Rangley Allen, of Ridgewood, Nj., Col. & Mrs. Richard Allen, and Miss Edith Allen of Miami Florida, Lt. Florence Allen of Jonesville; Mrs. Donald L Brown, of Dover De., Mrs. Marion Lanier of Walnut Cove, Nc., Mrs. Lillian Bowles, of Stewart, Mr. & Mrs. M B Hancock of Midlothian, Mrs. K. S. French, Mrs. L. B. Colburn, Mrs. Allene Baine, and Jessie Ring all of Narrows; Mrs. R. E. Sessoms, and Mrs. Frances Quinn, both of Roanoke.

Robert E Creasey

Final rites for Robert E Creasey of Christiansburg, who died in a Roanoke hospital, were conducted Tuesday Sept 17, 1963, at the Richardson Funeral Home, by his pastor the Rev. Ira Austin. Mrs. Edgar Martin furnished organ music.

Pallbearers were Mr. Creasey’s nephews, Dr. Howard Fitzpatrick Creasey of Roanoke,; Robert B Creasey of Richmond; Emmett L Leonard of Roanoke, Harold W Leonard, of Christiansburg; Thomas J Sawyers, Jr., of Waynesboro; and Thomas L Perkins of Yadkinville, Nc.

Surviving, are Mr. Creaseys’ wife, Mrs. Grace Creasey, five daughters, Miss Nell Creasey, Helen Creasey, Mrs. Ethel C Martin, all of Christiansburg; Mrs. Mary Smith, Yadkinville, Nc., Mrs Barbara C Hill, El Cerrito, Ca., one brother, Walter Creasey, two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Randal, and Mrs. Eula Hayton, all of Blueefield, WV., four grandchildren, Robert D Smith Jr., Island of Guam, Mrs. Roberta Smith Sayers, Waynsboro, Mrs. Linda S Perkins, Yadkinville, Nc., and John H Martin III., of Christiansburg; two great grand children, Jamie Perkins of Yadkinville, Nc., and Michelle Sawyers of Waynesboro.

Among those attending the funeral, were Mr. & Mrs. Robert Smith and Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Perkins of Yadkinville, Nc., Mrs. Katheryn C Randal, and Mr. & Mrs. W. J. .Hylton all of Bluefield Wv., Mrs. Gladys C Wilkins of Roanoke,; Mr. & Mrs. Gleason Harvey, Lowesville, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Johnson, , Mr. & Mrs. Leon Heslip of Salem, Mrs. Frank Dulaney, Mr. & Mrs. Emmett Leonard and Mrs. Mary M Wilson Haley all of Roanoke, and Mrs. W F Pack of Blacksburg.

Mrs. Effie Logan, 71 of Cambria, died last Tuesday in a Radford Hospital.

Surviving are her husband, James P Logan, a stepson, Harold McLaughlin, Cambria; four sons, Woodrow C and Roy G Hickman, Cambria; two sisters; Mrs. Sarah Stewart and Miss Virginia Price, Floyd and a brother Terry Price, Floyd.

Noah C Harris, 74 of Christiansburg died in a local hospital Thursday morning.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Olivia D Harris, one son, Grover Lee Harris, Martinsville; two daughters Mrs Helen Lester, Mrs. Ada Dove both of Christiansburg; four brothers, Early Harris, Radford; Dayton Harris, Indian Valley; Lonnie Harris, Salem, Wyatt Harris, Riner; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Gardner and Mrs. Rosa Hollandsworth both of Christiansburg.

Funeral was at 2pm Saturday at Indian Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Floyd County with burial in the church cemetery.

Alvin Glenn Phillips, 26 day old son of Mr. & Mrs. Marvin Phillips of Cambria died at his home .

A graveside service was conducted at 2 pm Wednesday at Captain George Quesenberry Cemetery at Indian Valley.

Karen Jane Ogle, Christiansburg, 16 mo old daughter of Mr & Mrs Esdel Ogle died in a Radford hospital Monday night.

She is survived by a brother John T Ogle, a sister, Rebecca Ogle, both at home.
