Genealogical Society of Page County Virginia

The Genealogical Society of Page County, Virginia, (GSPC), a nonprofit organization, was formed in January of 1990. GSPC was organized through the volunteer efforts of patrons of The Page Public Library, 100 Zerkel Street, Luray, Virginia, who realized the importance of preserving the records and documents pertaining to the lives of our ancestors who once lived in the part of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley that became known as Page County. Some of the objectives of GSPC were:
    • to locate, preserve, index, and publish both private as well as public genealogical records
    • to encourage and assist members in the art and practice of genealogical research
    • and last but not least, helping to protect and preserve the family heritage that is a part of Page County history
With these objectives always in mind our organization continued to grow year after year. Through various fund raising efforts, the publication of a series of books, and the generosity of members who have donated material, the GSPC has been able to add over 2,000 items, including family history and genealogy books, to the collection that is housed at the Page Public Library.

Unfortunately, due to a lack of volunteers, GSPC was dissolved in 2005.  However, our books, newsletters, and all other historical and genealogical items collected by the society over the years will remain at the Page Public Library and will be open to anyone who visits the library.

We thank everyone for their support and encouragement over the last 16 years and are extremely sorry to see the end of the society.
