GEORGE POAGE.

George Poage was born November n, 1812, and died February 11, 1896, aged 84 years. He united with the Primitive Baptist church in August, 187l, and was baptized be Elder John C. Hall, on the same day. He was a devoted husband and father, a kind charitable neighbor, and an upright citizen. In his church he was a valued member. No man was ever heard to speak ought of him, but in the highest terms, and be was always ready to help his fellowmen in sickness or distress. In February, 1896, he contracted a severe cold which soon developed into Pneumonia, and he lingered only a few days. In spite of all that skilled physicians, kind friends and neighbors could do, he passed peacefully away, surrounded by his wife and children. Owing to the bad weather there was no funeral at the time of his death. He was buried in the family graveyard, just in sight of where he was born and raised to manhood. In May following, his funeral was preached at Bell View church in the presence of a large crowd, by Elder .John C. Hall. who paid a beautiful tribute to the honesty and integrity of the life he had lived. And we I feel that he is now at rest, awaiting the resurrection morn.
