Isaac and Selma Duckwiler to Samuel Wort, 400 acres in Botetourt County

 

This Indenture made this 23rd day of April 1836 between

Isaac Duckwiler and Selma his wife of Montgomery County and state of

Virginia of The one part Samuel Wort of Botetourt County and State aforesaid

of the other part witnesseth  that the said Isaac Duckwiler & Selma his

wife for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred Dollars to

Them in hand paid The receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath

granted bargained and Sold & by these presents doth grant bargain and

Sell unto him the Said Samuel Wort one certain tract or parcel of land

in Botetourt County on the waters of Back Creek a branch of

Roanoke containing 400 acres be the Same more or less and bounded as

followth to wit Beginning on  Thomas Fowler corner 2 white oaks near

Cooks ould (sic) field thence with Thomas Fowler lines nearly East to Henry

Sniders line Thence with Sniders lines to Lewis Harvey’s line near the top

of the blue ridge thence with Harvey’s lines to George Wrights line thence

with Wright’s lines to David Mulhaney line  Thence with Mulhaney’s lines

to Jacob Fowler line Thence with Fowler to Robert Mulhaney line thence

with Mulhany lines to Thomas Fowlers line thence with Thomas Fowler line

to the Beginning to have and To hold the said tract of & premises together

or with all & singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said

Samuel Wort to have and to hold the said bargained land & premises

unto him the Said Samuel Wort his heirs & assigns forever free from

the claim of him the Said Isaac Duckwiler and Selma his wife their heirs

assigns from all other persons claiming or to claim by under or through these

or any of them will forever warrant & Defend by these presents

In Testimony whereof the Said Isaac Duckwiler and Selma his wife

have herunto Set their hands & Seals the day & year above written.

Botetourt County to Wit

We John H. Griffin & William C. Bouyer Justices of the peace for Said

County do hereby certify that Isaac Duckwiler & Selma Duckwiler his

wife parties to the within Conveyance personally appeared before us and

acknowledged the Same to be their act & deed the 23rd day of April 1836

& wished us to certify the same acknowledgement to the clerk of the

County Court of Botetourt in order that it may be recorded & we further

certify that the Said Selma Duckwiler being by us privily Examined

Separate & apart from her husband & the Deed aforesaid being fully

Explained to her She acknowledged the same & that she had willingly

& of her own accord signed Sealed and delivered the Same & wished not

to retract it but to be certified as aforesaid given under our hands and

Seals this 23rd day of April 1836
