BESS, BEST -
It is believed that Christopher Bess/Best is the migrant of all lines of the surname, "Bess" in Alleghany County, VA. He was born in 1734 in Nansamond County, VA and died in 1783 in Botetourt County, VA. He was a veteran of both the French-Indian War and the Revolutionary War. His wife was named, "Mary". He resided in the hamlet of Rich Patch which is an area of Botetourt County that eventually became Alleghany County.

HUFFMAN, ROBINSON -
Can anyone help identify wife of Soloman Huffman, mother of Archibald Huffman. We believe Soloman's wife was named Sarah but this is all we know. We have no dates except that of Archibald's birth on March 6, 18227 in Botetourt Cty., Va. The family later moved to Floyd/Pike Cty., Ky. Archibald married Luisa Rowen Robinson. It is possible that the move to Ky. took place after his son, Thomas Nubron Huffman, Sr. was born.

BRIDGE, LEE -
The Bridge family is said to have come from Botetourt Co VA to Augusta Co VA to work in "the mines". Ore? Mt. Tory Furnace? James Bridge (b. around 1800) showed up in Augusta Co VA and was married to Nancy Lee (also b. around 1800). Their son, Jesse Robert Bridge (1844-1889) was a miner in Augusta Co VA and died of what was called the "bloody flux" - 2 of his children also died of the same disease at the same time. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

SEABOLT, SUTHERLAND, YATES -
James Sutherland's daughter, Nancy, married Jonathan Yates 1800 in Botetourt Co Va. He apparently moved as daughter Polly was born c1801 in Russell Co Va. Would like more info on this family. Are they related to the Sutherland (Southerland, etc) families of Wythe, Patrick & Pittsylvania counties? Levi Sutherland's dau Mary married in Patrick Co but Levi was from Surry Co NC. Nelly Southerland married Lewis Seabolt in Wythe Co. Are they related to the above Sutherlands? Any tidbits appreciated!
