COULTER, WRIGHTSMAN -
I have a great deal of material on the Botetourt County family of John WRIGHTSMAN, Sr. Tax records,
Census, property records, court records, marriage records, Rev. War. will. He was brought into court in 1787
for beating his son, Peter. He did not return to court at the time specified, and no further record can be
found of Peter. John's wife remains a mystery (Mary Christiane COULTER) She died between 1796 and
1809, and the oldest son, John, Jr. (from whom I am descended) disappears from all records by 1820. My gg
grandfather, Christian WRIGHTSMAN was bound out, according to law and ordered by the Overseer of the
Poor in 1815 to Jacob Gish. I can find nothing to indicate whether he returned home or where his father
went. I know Christian's history from the time of his marriage until he died in Illinois. Would really
like to know about wife of John, Sr. and what happened to John, Jr. Another son, Solomon, died in the Poor
House in about 1865. Would love to share what I have and to exchange info with someone who has some of
these answers. Thank you, in advance, for your time.
