The following were in the Botetourt County History Before 1900 Through Cemetery Records recorded by Helen Caldwell, and not pictured.
Just a few miles away in Montgomery County, we find
Susannah Smith Preston w/o Col William Preston and Col. William Preston's grave at Smithfield.
This is on the Virginia Tech. campus.
The cemetery is called Preston and is surrounded by a brick wall.
The plantation Smithfield is in eyes view and now the home is a museum.
I had the pleasure to visit Augusta, Botetourt, Montgomery, Smyth, Washington and Wythe counties some years back, tracing my family lines that lived in that beautiful part of the country.
My family was very much part in the settlement of those areas.
They are Col. James Patton, The Preston's, Thompson's and many more.
